A collection of photos from my first urban kayaking trip. The hardest shoot I’ve ever done…a photographers nightmare…dark, moving subjects and me in a moving kayak. Was a lovely trip but more technical improvement needed. Courtesy of the lovely instructors at at Moo Canoes in Limehouse, we kayaked up the canal towards Hackney Wick.
An interesting experience mixing such a rural outdoor sport whilst passing some of the most highlight populated boroughs and overpasses. I had the pleasure of a lovely kayak instructor who could keep us moving whenever I had to focus on taking pictures. Was a grand evening though a wee bit chilly 🙂
Kayaks all lined up at starting point
Limehouse docks
A bit of warm up and instruction
Lowering into the kayak…without getting camera wet…can’t wait for my GoPro
First bit of artistic graffiti
…and we are off supporting the rear
some more companions…who just ignored us
lovely lighting giving a bit of an eery effect
happy peeps holding on
moving up one level in the canal…corralled like cows whilst one gate was closed and another opened raising us back up to street level
a bit of a chat while waiting for the water to fully rise
everyone thoroughly happy, albeit a little damp and chilly, and ready for beer and pizza
view of the Olympic stadium on exiting the canal
our lovely pub that is known for its oven baked pizzas…Crate Brewery & Pizzeria
yum yum…pizzas never eaten faster
smiling peeps at the end of a lovely adventure
